Blood Sweat & Sawdust

Last weekend marked the end of my procrastination for a particular project I've been putting off: To design and build my own poker table. Two sheets of Birch and four U2 albums later, I was well on my way to Hold'em heaven. Here's a sneak peak.

Fall Is On The Way

Fall has been teasing me these last few days. It is by far the one season I enjoy most. I unpack the fleece, open the windows, and breathe in the fresh morning air. Nature's splendor displayed at full volume, brief as it is, will paint a vivid landscape demanding scenic drives at a moment's notice. As quickly as they change from green to gold, those leaves abandon their branches and return to earth. Rake 'em up and dive in, then rake them all up again. Long sleeves, pumkin guts, and hot chili simmering on the stove. Autumn air brings an extra level of comfort to each day. It's easy, it's lazy, it's everything sliding towards hybernation. I see it around the corner...Fall is on the way.

Satelite Killed the Radio Star

It's been just over a week since my satelite radio trial expired. Determined not to renew until later this fall, my iPod is now sweating bullets daily. This weekend I decided to turn on the AM/FM radio while running some errands. (NOTE: I haven't listened to local radio in 2-3years). I was dissapointed to discover the station lineup has changed little, if any, over the years.

I find myself asking...
  • Does embracing new technology dishonor the past in some way?
  • Will suburban radio die out like the 8-track, the cassette tape, and now the compact disc?
  • If so, will the last remaining radio stations represent the core culture and community of radio's history, like vinyl records still being produced and consumed in the face digital progress?

Oh no! It's been a year already. My 1-yr trial of sirius radio runs out this Friday. It came with my car and now I'm hooked after a year of enjoying great channels like Chill, Margaritaville, 1st Wave, Coffee House, Alt Nation etc...They know I'm going to renew. I know I'm going to renew. It's only a matter of time. We'll see how long I can sweat it out.

E-Migration

Alright...it's time I put away myspace and down-size to a less needy means of online social interaction. Introducing blog numero uno!

As I think back to my time on myspace I can't help but wonder

  • If I looked around long enough would I find an actual phone # to call customer service and if so would Tom answer the phone "Myspace" or "Yourspace"
  • How many times did I have to tell someone their page was hacked and sending everyone viagra ads and free iPhone offers?
  • When females open the myspace login page, do they see half-naked women from match.com or do they get dudes instead?

Anyway, that's all for now. Catch you later little hulk-a-maniacs!!!
